ABOUT OJO'S YOGA INSTRUCTORS

Doug Gilnett, Certified Yoga Instructor

Doug took his first yoga class at a YMCA in Dayton, Ohio in 1996 and was hooked. His immediate love of the science of yoga took him to the source – India -- where he spent four years living and studying in an ashram. He completed his Yoga teacher certification through the University of New Mexico-Taos. His teaching style is interdisciplinary and incorporates elements of Hatha, Restorative, Svastha, and Myofascial Yoga. He thanks his teachers: Joyce Beason, Monique Parker, Kirstie Segarra, Michelle Marien, and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev for joyfully sharing their teachings. An experienced therapeutic bodyworker, Doug is sensitively attuned to the mind-body healing process, leading students of all levels through their own practice of self-discovery. His playful personality and contagious sense of humor brings a lightheartedness to each class he teaches. Doug continues to expand his Yoga studies on and off the mat, incorporating all he learns into his work as a massage therapist.

Ashleigh Beyer, Certified Yoga Instructor
Ashleigh found yoga in 2001 after sustaining a lower back injury. She has been fascinated to see how yoga has changed for her over the years. At first, she was only interested in the therapeutic aspects of the practice; after completing her teacher training from New York's Laughing Lotus in 2007, she was moved to teach breath and flow based yoga. Since moving to New Mexico in 2011, she has been deeply inspired by her practice of seated meditation. She is now most interested in the stillness inside of movement and restorative postures. She completed her Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga Teacher Certification with Judith Hanson Lasater in the fall of 2013. She is also certified in prenatal yoga through Urban Yoga of Vancouver. Ashleigh's classes are a healing and meditative road map to letting go. She is grateful to the teacher in everything.

Suki Mierzejewsk, Certified Yoga Instructor

Suki thanks her parents for the gift of yoga as a young child. She learned from them about our profound relationship with nature, and the power of our embodiment. Upon completing a Level I teacher training with Noah Maze and Naime Jezzeny in 2005, she began teaching Anusara Inspired classes in Taos. Encouraged by the blossoming delight she experiences in the every day, she continues to share the possibility of more joy with her students. She has completed an Anusara Level II Teacher Training and Advanced Therapeutics with John Friend and continues to study with her other generous teachers including Karen Dalury, Darren Rhodes, Desiree Rumbaugh, Genevieve Oswald, and so many more. The Anusara method heartens Suki to uphold the most basic of tenets; respect for everyone’s potential as we are all ultimately graced with Shree. She lives with her lovely family in Taos and enjoys playing in the dirt.

Liz Passman, Certified Yoga Instructor

Liz is delighted to be a part of the community of yoga instructors at Ojo. Introduced to yoga in college, Liz started practicing in 2004 and has been teaching for the past three years. Liz began her training and teaching as a children's yoga instructor, then completed a 230-hour training to teach hatha and vinyasa yoga. Liz continues to expand her study of yoga, most recently completing a 100-hour training on heart-based alignment and tantric philosophy. Her experience with children infuses her teaching of adults with a playful and nurturing approach. She encourages students in her classes to find their inner teacher and guidance from within. Liz absolutely insists on enjoying life and her classes will leave you feeling at ease and inspired.
